Golf is an individual sport in which players hit a ball from various distances and terrains into a hole using any number of specially designed clubs.
Golf is played outdoors and consists of many obsticles designed to put the golf ball in an undesirable playing position.
It is defined in the Rules of Golf as "playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules."
The first game of golf recorded in history was played at Bruntsfield Links, in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1456. This was recorded in the archives of The Royal Burgess Golfing Society.
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, generally regarded as the world's "Home of Golf".
